Five fixes, in order

  1. Claim and verify your profile. Nothing else counts until it's yours. See is my business on Google Maps?
  2. Make Plumber your primary category. Then add Drainage service, and water heater or water softener categories only if you really do that work.
  3. Ask for a review on every job. In this trade the leaders have hundreds. Send a direct link the same day the job's done. See how to get more Google reviews and the free review link tool.
  4. Add job photos every week. Water heaters, repipes, your van and team. Aim to pass 50 photos, then keep adding.
  5. Reply to every review. Including the bad ones; people read how you handle a flood gone wrong. See how to reply to reviews.

Questions

How many reviews does a plumber need to rank on Google Maps?

There's no fixed number, and in plumbing the bar is high: the top-3 plumbers in our Central Florida searches had a median of about 197 reviews. What matters is the gap to the plumbers above you in your own area, which a free scan shows.

Should I add "emergency" or "24 hour" to my business name?

Only if it's part of your real, registered name. Adding words to your name breaks Google's guidelines and can get a profile suspended. Set your hours accurately instead.

Should I list HVAC or AC repair as well?

Only if you do that work. Some top-3 plumbers listed HVAC categories, but adding categories you don't really offer can hurt more than help.
